Methodology
How the calculator works
- — Platform, configuration and application compatibility come from an explicitly encoded technical database checked against manufacturer specifications. Nothing is inferred: if a configuration is not encoded for an application, it is not offered.
- — Nominal manufacturer output and usable planning output are kept separate. A visible, editable planning-yield factor (default 85%) converts one to the other.
- — Capacity units (flow cells, chips, wafers, SMRT Cells) are always whole units. Long-read platforms use their own planning model rather than short-read logic.
- — Every result carries an expandable “How this was calculated” panel showing the exact values and formulas used.
